Dream Team: "A fun yet surprisingly realistic business situation involving various stages of team formation, disagreement, and eventual implosion. You and the colleagues on your team must now decide how you will turn this team around!"
At present you are employed in a Western Canadian Regional Office of FADCO Inc. FADCO is a multinational retail clothing outlet specializing in unisex clothing products and accessories. Your store locations are located predominantly in large mall outlets or in upscale plazas and strip malls throughout both urban and rural North America. Your corporate office has noticed that there has been a marked shift in the demographics of your consumers to a much younger age group than was the case ten years ago. You have also noticed that this consistent and sustainable growth in the market has resulted in the need to more effectively segment your target populations and to arrive at more specific strategies for this new, younger group of consumers.
Recently, you had been asked to be lead a cross functional team tasked with the responsibility of managing the marketing portion of this new target population. Three weeks ago your team had their first meeting and began the process of familiarizing one another with the task at hand, outlining your major objectives, and establishing milestones and measures. Last week after a particularly difficult meeting, several team members expressed concern to you about how things had been going with the team. Over time the team becomes extremely dysfunctional to the point of open hostility and members threatening to quit.
Your challenge is to tweak this motley crew into high performance!
